What counts as fair wear and tear?

We expect your device to show signs of everyday use. You won't be charged for:

  • Some scuffs or fading

  • Up to 2 deep screen scratches (under 3cm) on the screen

  • Small dents or paint changes

What happens if damage goes beyond fair use?

If your device is returned with damage that goes beyond fair wear and tear, we may need to charge for repairs. This includes things like:

  • Cracked screens or casing

  • Liquid damage

  • Locked devices (e.g. Find My still switched on)

  • Missing accessories

We only ever charge the cost to repair the device and prepare it for its next use. Most customers aren’t charged.

Want extra peace of mind?

Add optional Raylo Insurance at checkout. It covers accidental damage, loss and theft - so you’re protected if the unexpected happens.

FAQs

How much could I be charged?

It depends on the damage and the device. Any potential charges are set out in your Hire Agreement.

Why do I have to pay for damage?

We don’t charge for fair wear and tear. Repair costs only apply if the device needs repairs so it’s ready for its next use with another customer.
