The California Department of Education (CDE) listed the books below as classroom resources but changes were quickly made after parents became outraged at the content.

The CDE made this statement:
On May 8, 2019, the State Board of Education announced that it took action to adopt the Health Education Framework with the revisions of removing the above listed books. Read the announcement here: https://bit.ly/2S0KDby

IMPORTANT - Because the books align with the California Healthy Youth Act (AB 329), a teacher can still use them in the classroom, with or without the school district's approval.

Real Impact has reviewed each of the once state recommended books, which are still made available on the CDE website.
