California Parent Rights
With the massive Education Code in California, it can be hard for parents to decipher what their rights are in the public education system. Here, we list just a few of the parental rights that are stated within Ed Code 51101:
Examine the curriculum of their child's classes.
Observe the classroom of a school they wish to enroll their child.
Meet with the principal of the school.
Help meet the needs of teachers within the classroom by being a volunteer.
Be notified if their child is absent from class.
Request a particular school for their child (this does not have to be granted).
Have an environment in their child's school that is safe and conducive to learning.
