The Three Ways You Can Change Education
Parents Defending Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping parents understand the steps they can do to reclaim and defend their child's educational institution.
The focus of this grassroots organization has taken three paths; empower, expose, engage. The following links (underlined and in red) take you to the three portions of the Parents Defending Education website that will help you, the parent, in either of those paths mentioned above:
Empower: This portion of the website will help parents know their rights. Unfortunately, many people do not know exactly what they are allowed to control in their child's education. In this part of the website, you can learn what is Title IX, what are your options for opting your child out of certain lessons at school, and how to document issues that arose at your child's school.
Expose: This portion of the website will help parents know how to expose what is occurring at their child's school, i.e. how to shine the sunlight on issues. The best way to expose schools is to file a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, this part of the website explains how to do so. Filing a FOIA request can seem overwhelming, especially when you think so much is so wrong with your local school, but start small!
Engage: This is the largest portion of the Parents Defending Education website in regards to amount of resources provided. Here you can also learn more about filing FOIA requests, but you can also learn how to fight radical ideology via social media, how to speak up at school boards (and even get engaged with the board itself), how to work with private schools, how to run for school board, etc.
Know Whats Happening Locally
Parents Defending Education has a fantastic way to find out if your local school district/school has engaged in radical progressive indoctrination with an interactive map of the country. Parents could submit information to Parents Defending Education to keep other parents abreast of what is occurring in their backyards. Use the following to view the map and to make an incident report with the website:
