Don’t Let Politicians Take Over Redistricting
A few years ago, California voters agreed that politicians shouldn’t draw their own district maps. Instead, we created an independent citizens’ commission to keep the process fair, open, and honest. This helped people trust elections more.
Now, Prop 50 wants to undo that progress. It would give redistricting power back to politicians and shut regular people out. Maps could be redrawn in secret, with no public input or oversight. That means some neighborhoods especially underrepresented communities could be split up or ignored just to help politicians.
Why Prop 50 is Bad for California:
Takes power away from independent citizens
Let’s politicians redraw maps in secret
Divides underrepresented neighborhoods
Cuts out public input and community voices
Costs taxpayers over $250 million for a special election
Just because other states are changing their maps doesn’t mean California should too. We already have a system that works—one that’s fair and transparent.
Prop 50 is a power grab. Let’s protect what we’ve built.
VOTE NO ON PROP 50
Protect fair maps. Protect your community. Protect your voice.
