Choosing the correct invoice template in Rechargly helps prevent double payments and ensures compatibility with your firm’s billing processes and any third-party providers.

Rechargly uses a clean invoice template to prevent clients from accidentally paying through unintended channels. This is especially important if you’re using other billing providers like GoCardless or Payrix.

Why this matters

1. Prevents double payments

If a client is ever emailed an invoice, the Rechargly template removes all payment methods. This helps avoid clients paying both via Rechargly and directly through Xero.

2. Avoids auto-capture by other billing systems

Some billing providers (e.g. GoCardless) may auto-capture payments if standard invoice templates are used. Rechargly’s template prevents this by excluding payment fields.

3. Reduces confusion

The Rechargly invoice template is blank—no billing instructions or payment info—so the invoice is treated purely as a record, not a payment request.

Steps to follow

  1. In Xero, go to Settings > Invoice Settings.

  2. Create a new template and remove all payment methods and details.

  3. Go to the Integrations page in Rechargly and resync the integration

  4. Go to the Setup page and the Rechargly invoice template will appear
