You can update the name that appears on your customers’ bank or credit card statements for payments processed through Stripe. This helps ensure customers can easily recognise charges from your business.

Steps To Update Your Statement Descriptor

  1. Log in to your Stripe dashboard.

  2. Click the Settings (cog icon) in the top right corner.

  3. Under Business settings, select Business details.

  4. Scroll to the Public details section.

  5. Locate the fields for:

    • Statement descriptor – the main name shown on customer bank statements

    • Shortened descriptor – used if the full descriptor is too long

6. Enter your desired, recognisable name for your business.

7. Scroll down and click Save to apply your changes.

Important Notes

  • The descriptor should be clear and recognisable so customers know who the charge is from.

  • Stripe enforces character limits on the descriptor. If your text is too long, the Shortened descriptor will be used instead.

  • Changes will only apply to new transactions and may take some time to appear on customer statements.

Expected Outcome

Once updated, your future Stripe transactions will display the new statement description, helping customers easily identify payments to your business.
