Credit card payments are turned on by default in Rechargly. Many firms prefer their clients to pay by bank direct debit (BECS), because the firm covers the processing fees and direct debit costs less to process. You only need this article if credit cards were switched off at some point and you want to add them back as a payment option.
Turn on credit cards in Stripe
Card payments are controlled in your Stripe account, not in Rechargly.
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
Go to Settings, then Payment methods.
Turn on credit cards.
Once credit cards are enabled, they become an available payment option for your clients again. To check it has worked, open any client agreement and go through the payment flow. Both payment methods should be available.
How your client can pay by card
After cards are enabled, your client can choose card when they set up or update their payment method on their agreement page.
Open Agreements in Rechargly.
Find the client and copy their agreement link.
Send the link to the client.
The client opens the link, chooses card, and enters their card details.
A note on fees
Rechargly does not currently let you pass card processing fees on to your clients. If you want to add a separate charge to a client, you can add an admin fee or a disbursement fee.
