Edit or stop a recurring charge

What you can change on a recurring charge, how to stop one, and what happens to charges already created.

Written by Jazmin Aldana

You can edit or stop a recurring charge from the Recurring charges page. Go to Charges, open the dropdown, then Recurring charges. What you can change depends on the field.

What you can edit

You can edit the prices and the Stop date on an existing series. You cannot edit the Organisation, Plan, Start date or Frequency. To change any of those, set up a new series with the new details and stop the old one.

What an edit affects

An edit applies only to charges created from that point on. Charges that have already been created keep their old price. If you raise a client's monthly fee, the charges already raised stay at the old amount, and only future charges use the new one.

How to stop a recurring charge

There is no stop button. To end a series, set its Stop date to today. A charge that falls on the stop date is still created, so the series ends after today's charge.

Submitting the same series again

If you submit the same series again with a different price or stop date, Rechargly asks you to confirm the update. It does not create a duplicate series. This is how you update a series you have already set up, including one you first added by CSV.
