The program cart feature enables the user to add multiple program registrations to a single checkout while temporarily reserve a spot while they are still browsing for other programs. This is particularly useful when registering multiple members for programs or when registering for multiple programs simultaneously. To add programs to your cart, simply click on the Add to Cart button on the program payment page during the checkout process.
To determine the duration for which the cart will hold items before releasing them back to the available spots, utilize the Cart Expiration Window option located under Association > Settings > Programs. The values for this setting range from 0 to 60 minutes. A value of 0 signifies that the cart won’t hold a spot, and the spot will only be secured after the member completes their registration. When the Cart Expiration Window is set to 1 or more minutes, a timer will be displayed at the top of the menu bar.
Every time an item is added to the cart, the expiration timer for that cart is refreshed by the number of minutes specified in the Cart Expiration Window. This ensures that if a member is actively adding items to the cart, the expiration time will keep extending until they complete the registration or the expiration time is reached.
The remaining time until expiration will flash and display in bold as it counts down and will change to reflect a Cart Expired! message once it reaches 00:00.
If space is still available in the program, expired items can be re-added to the cart by clicking the refresh button on the Checkout page. If the program is no longer available, an alert will be displayed to notify the user.
From the program registration checkout page, staff users with the Manage Cart permission can now toggle between viewing only the items that they added to the cart and viewing items added by other staff or by the member. NOTE: The default view is to show items added by other users.
Expired items are permanently removed from the cart after 12 or more hours of inactivity. If the Cart Expiration Window is set to 0 minutes, the expiration time increases to 72 hours. These expired items can be found in the Abandoned Carts report under Reports > Programs > Cart Items. Members will need to initiate the registration process again to add these items to their cart.
