Making Items Unreturnable

Creating Final Sale Items

Updated over 2 months ago

Step 1: Prevent Customers from Purchasing Return Coverage

  1. In Shopify, go to the product and add a Tag or assign it to a Collection (e.g., "Non-returnable").

  2. In Your Return Settings:

    • Navigate to Settings > Coverage > Return Coverage.

    • Under Exclude Collections, enter the Tag or select the Collection from the drop-down menu.

    • Save changes (top right of the screen).

  3. The item will now automatically be excluded from return coverage at checkout.

Step 2: Reject the Item in the Return Flow

  • Go to Settings > Return Flow.

    * We recommend adding this step towards the top of your return flow. If you don't feel confident with the return flow, try watching this video overview.

  • Select the step type, it should be "Condition", then select Condition: Customer tags or Collections.

Add the tag or collection you want to exclude and select "If matches, then" and create a new "Reject" step from the drop-down menu

  • This new step will reject any item with the Tag and will display a message to your customer when they are rejected.

  • Finally, go back to the Condition step and select, "If does not match, then" and "Use an existing step" from the drop-down menu.

  • You'll want to select the original step that connects to the rest of your return flow.

  • Then Save and Publish the change!

Now, the system will block returns for these items while keeping the rest of the return process functional.
