The lights on the side of your Reeplayer camera are a deliberate design touch. One glance tells you exactly what the camera is doing, no phone needed. Most of the time the camera is fine and just doing its job.
Find your light in the table, then jump to its section below for the full story.
Light | What it means | What to do |
White | Ready and connected, not recording | Nothing, you are good |
Solid green | Recording (not livestreaming) | Nothing, let it work |
Pulsing green | Recording and livestreaming | Nothing, everything is running |
Yellow | Game paused by a camera admin | Resume in the app when ready |
Red | Looking for an internet connection | Give it time, see below |
Red and white alternating | Unstable connection in the area | Hard reset if it persists |
Solid blue | Software update in progress | Let it finish, see below |
Off | Camera off, or side lights turned off in the app | Check the app setting, then the power |
Two fixes worth knowing up front
Restart: hold the power button on the back for 3 seconds. The side lights turn red, which means the camera is turning off. Let go. Then power it back on. Use this first, for most hiccups.
Hard reset: hold the power button for 15 seconds, then turn the camera back on. Use this when a restart did not clear the problem, or when this guide says so.
White: ready
What you see: solid white.
What it means: the camera is on, connected to the internet, and ready. It is not recording or uploading. This is the healthy resting state.
What to do: nothing. You are good to go.
One thing worth knowing: white is also the camera's recovery state. If the camera or its software ever crashes in the middle of a recording or livestream, it recovers itself and tries to get back to what it was doing. If it cannot, it settles back to white.
So if the camera was recording and suddenly shows white, the recording was interrupted. If that keeps happening, restart the camera. If it still keeps happening, do a hard reset. Still happening after that? Contact us.
Solid green: recording
What you see: steady green, no pulsing.
What it means: the camera is recording. Not livestreaming, just recording.
What to do: nothing. Let it work.
Pulsing green: recording and livestreaming
What you see: green that pulses.
What it means: the camera is recording and livestreaming at the same time. A player who glances over mid-game and sees pulsing green knows their family is watching live.
What to do: nothing. Everything is running.
Yellow: paused by a camera admin
What you see: yellow.
What it means: a camera admin paused the game. The camera never pauses a game on its own, so yellow always means a person chose to pause. Nothing is wrong.
What to do: the admin can resume the game in the app whenever they are ready.
Red: looking for a connection
What you see: solid red.
What it means: the camera has no internet connection right now, and it is actively working on it. The whole time the light is red, the camera is cycling through cellular providers, hunting for a tower that is not congested.
Your camera runs on an enterprise-grade connection with global connectivity in most countries around the world. It works very differently from a consumer phone, and it does not give up.
What to do: give it time. In most places it connects quickly. In rural areas, dead zones, or packed tournament sites where thousands of phones are fighting for the same towers, it can take 5 to 20 minutes in extreme conditions.
If it is still red after that, do a hard reset and try again. Still red? Message us in the app chat or email support@reeplayer.com.
Red and white alternating
What you see: the light switching between red and white.
What it means: this is very rare. The connection in your area is unstable, and the camera is dropping and regaining it.
What to do: if it keeps alternating, do a hard reset. If that does not settle it, contact us.
Solid blue: software update in progress
What you see: steady blue.
What it means: the camera is updating its software. Almost always this is an update you started yourself, on your own timing. Rarely, we push an important update that installs automatically when the camera powers on.
What to do: let it finish. Updates normally take a couple of minutes, usually under five. We recommend running updates on Wi-Fi, but LTE works when you need it.
Only if the light stays solid blue for more than 15 minutes should you restart the camera. Please do not restart earlier, since that can interrupt an update that is still working.
If it comes back to blue and stays stuck after the restart, contact us and leave the camera powered on so our team can connect to it and investigate further.
Lights off
What you see: no side lights at all.
What it means: either the camera is off, or the side LEDs are turned off in the app. There is a setting for that, and some people use it so the lights do not draw attention during games.
What to do: check the app setting first, then check that the camera is powered on.
When you first turn the camera on
The normal boot sequence looks like this: white, then red for about 10 to 20 seconds while the camera finds a cell tower, then back to white. That brief red is part of every startup. Nothing is wrong.
Two things that look odd but are healthy
A blinking blue light inside the camera. If you look through the LED windows you can see a small blue light blinking inside. That is normal, and it means the unit is healthy. It blinks even when the camera is off.
The five small LEDs on the back. Those show battery level. Flashing or pulsing at a regular cadence is normal.
Still stuck?
Message us in the app chat, or email support@reeplayer.com. Tell us which color you see and whether it is solid or pulsing. A short phone video of the light helps a lot.
