Social Intent

Configure Social Intents to detect when prospects interact with relevant topics, competitors, and industry influencers on LinkedIn.

Written by Antoine Gilbert

Social Intents allow Referly to detect signals of interest from your prospects on social networks.

They help the platform identify leads who show active engagement with topics, companies, or influencers related to your market.

These signals enable Referly to prioritize the most relevant prospects, helping your team focus on leads that are more likely to respond to your outreach.

What are Social Intents used for?

In traditional outbound prospecting, it is often difficult to know when a prospect is actively interested in a topic or solution.

Social Intents help detect signals such as:

  • interest in topics related to your solution

  • interactions with your competitors

  • interactions with industry influencers

These signals help Referly identify warm outreach opportunities, by highlighting prospects who are already engaging with relevant content on LinkedIn.

Where to configure Social Intents

To access the Social Intents configuration:

  1. In the left sidebar, click Admin

  2. In the top navigation menu, select Social Intents

From this page, you can create and manage your social signals.

The three types of Social Intents to configure

Referly allows you to define three categories of signals.

1. Topic Interest

You can define topics that are important for your market or solution.

Referly will then analyze whether your leads interact with content related to these topics.

Examples of topics:

  • HR

  • Recruiting

  • Sales

  • Marketing

  • B2B

You can add up to 10 topics.

These keywords allow Referly to detect when prospects engage with content related to these subjects.

2. Interactions with Competitors

Referly can also detect when leads interact with your competitors on LinkedIn.

To configure this:

  1. Go to the Interacted with Competitors section

  2. Add the LinkedIn accounts of your competitors

You can add up to 10 competitors.

Referly will then monitor whether leads that match your target audience interact with these companies on LinkedIn.

This type of signal may indicate that a prospect is:

  • researching solutions in your category

  • comparing vendors

  • exploring alternatives.

3. Interactions with Influencers

The third type of signal focuses on industry influencers.

These can include:

  • industry experts

  • thought leaders

  • content creators in your space

  • founders or executives who are influential in your market.

To configure this signal:

  1. Add the LinkedIn profiles of relevant influencers

  2. Referly will detect interactions between your leads and these profiles

You can add up to 10 influencers.

When a lead interacts with these accounts, it may indicate active interest in your market or related topics.
