Below the journal entry input form you will find a list of existing journal entries.

Add Journal Entry

To add a journal entry you will start with a blank journal entry input form.

Select the appropriate entry type (Book AJE, Tax AJE, Tax RJE) from the selector, enter an entry number, and a memo (optional).

Use the empty grid to select accounts, enter their credit or debit amount, and a workpaper reference (optional). All accounts from the file will appear in the dropdown with the book name followed by the tax line. There are also several accounts that will always appear in the dropdown, which can be found listed in the Permanent Accounts section of this article.

If your journal entry is out of balance, the total line at the bottom of the grid will turn red and display the difference. You will not be able to save a journal entry that is out of balance.

Once you have finished adding accounts, use one of the Save Changes buttons to save your journal entry. Your journal entry will close and become visible in the list of existing journal entries.

Note: The buttons at the top and bottom of the journal entry input form may be used interchangeably.

Edit Journal Entry

To edit a journal entry begin by selecting the edit button from the list of existing journal entries.

That will load the journal entry details into the journal entry input form, and you may edit it just as if entering a new journal entry.

Once you have finished editing the journal entry, use one of the Save Changes buttons to save your journal entry. Your journal entry will close and become visible in the list of existing journal entries.

Note: The buttons at the top and bottom of the journal entry input form may be used interchangeably.

Void Journal Entry

Void a journal entry by using the toggle button in the list of existing journal entries.

Voiding a journal entry will prevent it from appearing on any reports or affecting any report values.

Delete Journal Entry

You are able to delete accounts using the red button on the right side of the existing journal entries grid.
