How to Leave a Review

For anyone who has bought or sold a property within the past 12 months, congratulations are in order! After completing such a significant milestone, the next step is to leave a review for the real estate agent who assisted throughout the process.

There are 3 ways to get a review on RateMyAgent:

  1. Your real estate agent sends you an invitation

  2. Your real estate agent uploads a review you've already written, and you verify it

  3. You review your agent organically via their profile

This guide is going to show you how to do #3.

Step 1: Find your agent

Step 2: Starting the Review Process

Once on the agent’s profile, scroll down to the review section and click the “Review [Agent Name]” button:

Step 3: Verifying the Property Address

Next, search for the property that was sold or purchased. Reviews can only be submitted for transactions completed within the past 12 months. This requirement helps maintain the authenticity and reliability of reviews on RateMyAgent.
Only individuals directly involved in a completed property transaction are eligible to submit reviews, ensuring feedback is genuine and informative for future clients:

Step 4: Confirming Buyer or Seller Status

Indicate whether the reviewer was the buyer or seller for the property in question:

Step 5: Providing Personal Details

Enter a first name, last name, and valid email address to proceed:

Step 6: Email Verification

RateMyAgent sends an email to the address provided. The review process must be completed by the client personally using their own email and IP address, as third-party submissions are not permitted:

Step 7: Checking the Email

Upon receiving the verification email, click “Write your review” to continue:

Step 8: Writing the Review

The reviewer can then provide their feedback, offering an honest account of their experience with the agent. A star rating must be selected to reflect overall satisfaction, and the reviewer must also tick the box agreeing to RateMyAgent’s terms and conditions for the review to be finalised.

Please note: To ensure transparency and credibility, all reviews undergo moderation before being published on the agent’s profile. Reviews that do not comply with RateMyAgent’s terms and conditions are automatically flagged and removed.

Troubleshooting Review Submission Issues

Occasionally, users may experience issues when leaving a property review. Common problems include missing or incorrect property addresses, outdated property statuses, or inactive agent profiles. Below are solutions to these issues:

1. Missing Property Address

If the property address does not appear, request that the real estate agent update their CRM feed to ensure the property is linked correctly to their RateMyAgent profile.
Alternatively, the agent can send a direct review request through the platform.

2. Incorrect Property Address

If the property address appears incorrectly, submit a correction request through RateMyAgent. Be sure to include the correct address and, if available, the MLS number. RateMyagent will then update its records.

3. Property Status Not Updated

Reviews can only be submitted for properties marked as sold. If the listing still shows as active, contact the agent or their office to update the status on RateMyAgent.

4. Unclaimed Agent Profile

If a property or agent cannot be found, the agent may not have claimed or activated their profile. Encourage the agent to do so to enable reviews and display linked properties.
