You can modify your reservation in two ways: directly through the Rentcars website or via online chat with Carol, our virtual assistant.
Changing your booking on the website:
Log in to your Rentcars account.
Go to the "My Bookings" tab and select the booking you wish to change.
Click "Modify Booking" and follow the instructions to complete the change.
Changing your booking via online chat:
Log in to your account.
Access the customer support center by clicking "Help" and then "Online Chat" in the menu.
Start a conversation with Carol, our virtual assistant, and make the changes directly in the chat. You’ll receive confirmation on the same screen!
What is the deadline to change my reservation?
Some rental companies charge a retention fee and do not allow changes within 48 hours of vehicle pickup, or may charge fees for cancellations made within that period.
Be sure to check the specific cancellation policy of the rental company before requesting changes. You can locate this information before issuance, when setting up your reservation details. After issuance, it can be viewed on the confirmation voucher sent to your email, or available in your account under “My Reservations.” We have a series of FAQ articles on reservation cancellations—don’t forget to check them!
Can changing the reservation alter its cost?
Yes, rental companies use dynamic pricing models. This means the cost of a rental can fluctuate based on various factors:
Demand and availability: Prices often change due to availability of car categories and times. For example, during high-demand periods, adjustments to your pickup time may result in a higher price.
Time-sensitive rates: When you modify a reservation (e.g., changing the pickup time by a few hours or days), the current rate at the time of modification applies, rather than the original rate when the booking was made. This can lead to price differences.
Price increased after the change
If modifying the reservation results in a higher price, you’ll need to pay the difference to confirm the modification. If payment isn’t made in time, the reservation may be canceled.
Price decreased after the change
If the modification reduces the reservation price (such as choosing a lower-category vehicle or shortening the rental period), the difference will be refunded, or in the case of full payment with Cashback, the remaining amount will be credited to your account and can be found by accessing "My Wallet."
What happens if I change my booking and the exchange rate changes?
Your reservation amount may be adjusted based on an average of exchange rates at the time of the change.
If the change involves a different currency, the reservation cost will be converted and may vary according to the exchange rate at the time of change. If the change causes a price increase due to currency conversion, you must pay the difference to confirm. If it leads to a decrease, the difference will be refunded.
Is changing the pickup or drop-off location allowed?
Changing the pickup or drop-off location is possible in many cases, but depends on vehicle availability and the rules set by the rental company. Changes may incur additional charges and always depend on the rental company’s approval.
How to request the change:
Before vehicle pickup: You can request it directly on the website, in your reservation, or by contacting our support center.
After vehicle pickup: In this case, you must contact the rental company directly to check if a change is possible.
Can I change the name or driver on my reservation?
No, it is not possible to change the name of the booking holder or driver after the reservation is confirmed. This measure aims to ensure security, data validity, and proper registration of driver information in booking and pickup systems.

How do I know if my change was made?
After requesting the change, we will communicate by email with all information about the status of your request. When your reservation change is processed, you will receive a confirmation email with all updated details.
Can I change my car reservation after the scheduled pickup time?
Yes, it is possible to make changes to your reservation even after you have picked up the vehicle. However, changes must be requested directly with the rental company. If you wish to extend the rental period, add or remove extras, change the return location, among other modifications, it’s possible—but you need to check directly with the rental company. The branch’s contact number is available on your booking confirmation voucher or rental agreement.
Discount coupon: will it still apply after a change?
The originally applied discount coupon may still apply depending on the type of modification made, but please check the coupon’s terms, including its validity period and if the selected rental company accepts discount coupons. If you have a digital wallet credit applied, it will be automatically reapplied after modifying your booking.
Will my cashback remain valid if I change my booking?
Yes, in many cases, the cashback received will remain valid after a change, but it may vary depending on the promotion terms, whether the selected rental company accepts cashback, and if it’s within the validity period. If the modification qualifies, cashback will be automatically reapplied after the booking is updated.
What happens to RentalCover if I modify my booking?
You can modify your booking even if you purchased RentalCover insurance, but the coverage may need adjustment according to the new booking details. You’ll need to add RentalCover again, and the coverage cost may change based on the new terms.
What happens to Rent Protection if I modify my booking?
You can still modify your booking if you have Rent Protection, but the coverage may need adjustment according to the new booking terms. Rent Protection will be automatically reapplied after the modification, and the coverage cost may vary.
Note: this change in protection Rent Protection applies only when a foreigner is renting a car within Brazil.
