Overview
To use your SentriLock devices inside RentEngine, you must request a transfer from your old software to RentEngine. Typically this is done during your account onboarding.
Before you begin
You must complete the RentEngine onboarding process first. Your RentEngine representative will provide an onboarding checklist that includes a place to add your SentriLock serial numbers so that we can initiate the transfer.
Step-by-step transfer process
1. Submit your onboarding checklist
Add all your SentriLock serial numbers to the checklist and submit it to RentEngine. Your account rep will initiate the transfer request.
2. Activate your SentriLock account
You will receive an email to activate your SentriLock account.
To complete activation:
Create your password
Set your PIN
Answer the security questions
After activation, download the SentriKey Real Estate from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
3. Open each lockbox with the SentriKey app
On your chosen transfer date, use the SentriKey app to open every SentriLock box. This includes:
Active lockboxes on vacanct units
Inactive lockboxes at your office
You must complete this step within 14 days of onboarding for each Gen3.5/3.6 lockbox before it can be used in RentEngine.
Steps to open each lockbox with the SentriKey app:
Enable Bluetooth on your phone
Open the SentriKey Real Estate app
Press ENT on the lockbox to wake it
The key compartment opens
Close the key compartment
End the showing in the app
Wait for all lockbox lights to stop flashing before moving to the next box
You can also use ENT – FUNC – ENT on the lockbox keypad to put the box to sleep once it has transferred.
We recommend doing this with all of your SentriLocks to update the firmware, but it is required for all Gen3.5/3.6 devices (tan-colored with the clamshell design)
4. Add the lockbox in RentEngine
In the Lockboxes tab of RentEngine, add the lockbox so you can link it with vacant properties and generate codes
Click "Add Lockbox" at the top right
Enter the serial numbers, choose SentriLock as the lockbox type, and add any notes you'd like to include
Press "Create Lockboxes"
Note: the RentEngine onboarding team will complete this step for you during onboarding
Verify transfer in RentEngine
After successfully opening each lockbox with the SentriKey app, go to the Lockboxes tab in RentEngine. If the device has transferred correctly, you will be able to generate a code for it in RentEngine.
Tips for smooth transfers
If you are transferring many lockboxes at once, Bluetooth signals can overlap.
Wait for a box to go to sleep before starting the next one
If needed, close and reopen the SentriKey app between lockboxes
Only Gen3.5/3.6 boxes require opening as part of the transfer. Newer models (e.g., SentriGuard) can be opened via Bluetooth when convenient.
After transfer
Once all lockboxes are transferred:
You can connect that lockbox to a vacant property
RentEngine can automatically generate access codes for scheduled showings
You can manually generate codes from the lockboxes tab

If a lockbox doesn’t transfer or generate a code in RentEngine:
Confirm the box was opened with the SentriKey app
Ensure the serial number in RentEngine matches the physical device
Check that the lockbox is active in your SentriLock account
