Overview

Two-factor authentication is recommended by LinkedIn to keep your account safe.

However, this can cause frequent disconnection issues with ReplyAssist. To avoid this, you can connect your LinkedIn Two-Factor Authentication directly in ReplyAssist and this will keep your LinkedIn account safe while preventing disconnection from your ReplyAssist account.

How does it work?

The two-factor authentication will be protected by your Authenticator app. Whenever your account needs verification, ReplyAssist will generate security codes and send them to LinkedIn automatically to prevent the account from disconnecting.

We generally recommend using Microsoft's Authenticator app or Google's Authenticator App, but feel free to use your preferred authenticator app.

  • Download Google authenticator app for iOS here

  • Download Google authenticator app for Android here

  • Download Microsoft authenticator app for iOS here

  • Download Microsoft authenticator app for Android here

You can use the mobile authenticator app to sign in to LinkedIn using the QR code you will find on ReplyAssist. Your LinkedIn account will still be protected by 2 Factor Authenticator, so it is completely safe!

How to enable 2FA?

NOTE: Your account needs to be Active in ReplyAssist to enable 2FA.
If your account appears disconnected or incomplete, you won't see the two-step authentication settings.

LinkedIn setup

To prepare for 2FA, first access your LinkedIn account and check if you have 2FA enabled or not.

You can check this in LinkedIn by navigating towards:

Settings and Privacy > Sign in & security > Two-step verification

If 2FA is enabled on LinkedIn, please:

Turn off 2FA*

*This is temporary, it will be enabled again when you complete the setup.

  1. Click “Me” at the top right (your profile icon).

  2. Select “Settings & Privacy”

  3. Go to Sign in & security > Two-step verification.

  4. Click “Turn on”

  5. Select “Authenticator app” as your verification method.

  6. Click “Continue”

  7. You’ll now see a screen with a QR code and a secret key. Copy the Secret Key shown on the LinkedIn screen and go back to the LinkedIn Account Settings section of your ReplyAssist account and paste the LinkedIn secret key into the designated field in ReplyAssist.

  8. If the secret key is valid, you will be notified that it has been applied.

  9. Now return to the LinkedIn screen.

  10. Open your Authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or any TOTP-compatible app).

    Either:

    • Scan the QR code, or

    • Manually enter the same secret key (if you didn’t use the QR code).

11. The app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter the code from your Authenticator app into LinkedIn.

12. Click “Verify”.

13. Once verified, 2FA will be active. In ReplyAssist, you'll see a message next to your 2FA configuration letting you know that 2FA is enabled.

Now, your account is protected by 2FA and it will not have any disconnection issues with ReplyAssist if LinkedIn requests a verification code. We strongly recommend using this option to have your account always connected and protected.
