Restor has released a new feature that allows you to add your own data for eight important metrics. This helps bring global data closer to your reality, giving a more holistic view of your restoration efforts.

What You Can Now Track:
Input fields for what you planted vs. target.

  1. TREES_PLANTED: How many trees you planted.

  2. TOTAL_TREES: Total number of trees currently on your site.

  3. TREE_SPECIES_OBSERVED: Number of different tree species observed on the site.

  4. TREE_SPECIES_PLANTED: Number of different tree species you’ve planted.

  5. NATIVE_TREE_SPECIES_PLANTED: Number of native trees you’ve planted.

  6. INVASIVE_TREES_REMOVED: Number of invasive trees you’ve removed.

  7. CARBON_SEQUESTERED: Amount of CO2 (in tonnes) captured and stored from the atmosphere, either naturally or through human efforts.

  8. SEEDLING_INVESTMENT: Amount of money spent on purchasing seedlings.

These metrics help validate and complement global scientific datasets already present on Restor with your on-the-ground information.

🧰 Before You Start: Pre-Preparation

  1. Request two things from the Restor support team:

📋 Step 1: Prepare Your Data

Follow these instructions carefully to fill out the Organization site id's and names - export.csv template:

  1. Identify the sites you want to report data for.

  2. Copy and paste each site's ID into the template.

  3. Duplicate the site ID rows based on:

    • The number of years you're reporting for.

    • The number of metrics per year.

    Example:

    For one site:

    • Reporting 5 years (2021–2025)

    • Only reporting TREES_PLANTED → 5 rows

    • Reporting all 8 metrics → 40 rows

  4. Fill out the following columns for each row:

    • YEAR: e.g., 2023

    • METRIC: e.g., TREES_PLANTED

    • VALUE: Actual number (e.g., 2,000 trees)

    • TARGET : Your goal (e.g., 3,000 trees)

    • SOURCE (optional): Add a URL (e.g., link to your project report)

  5. Repeat for all sites, years, and metrics you want to report.

  6. Save the completed CSV on your computer.

⬆️ Step 2: Upload Your Data

We've created a step-by-step visual guide to walk you through the process. You can access it here: Visual Guide

  1. Log into your Restor account.

  2. Go to “My Restor” in the main menu.

  3. Click on “My Self-Reported Data.”

  4. Click “Add Files” and select your prepared CSV.

  5. Click “Upload Data.”

The system will process your file. Once complete, you’ll see a new “Self-Reported” tab on each site profile. You'll also find new graphs on your Insights dashboard under the “Land Cover” section.

📊 Step 3: View Your Data

Once uploaded successfully:

  • Each site with data will display a new "Self-Reported" tab.

  • You’ll see your input visualized through interactive graphs.

  • The Insights tab will show aggregated data across your sites.

  • Hover over the graph columns to see actual vs. target values.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • 🛠 If your CSV has errors, they’ll show in the Self-Reported Data tab. Fix and re-upload.

  • 🗑️Currently, data cannot be deleted through the platform. To delete, please contact Restor support.

  • ✏️If you need to make any edits, resubmit the CSV with the updated values.

💬 Feedback Helps Us Improve

This is the first release of our self-reported data feature. We're working hard to improve it, and your feedback is crucial. If you notice anything missing or unclear, please reach out — your input helps us close any gaps!
