Who are Restor’s key partners?
Updated over a year ago

Restor's key partners include the Crowther Lab at ETH Zurich, Google, a wide network of restoration projects, communities, scientists, and environmental organizations around the world, and the Restor Foundation.

The concept for Restor originated in 2017 at the Crowther Lab, where ecologists use machine learning models, field data, satellite imagery, and environmental information to generate global ecosystem maps. The goal was to make this information readily available to ecosystem managers on the ground.

In 2020, the Crowther Lab collaborated with Google to build and scale Restor into an online ecosystem. Since then, Restor has become a separate organization, working with groups of all sizes involved in restoration projects.

While Restor was initially created in partnership with Google, it is now an independent entity owned and managed by the Restor Foundation. Restor also benefits from a $1 million grant from Google.org, which allows us to experiment with innovative methods for collecting data on restoration projects, enabling better tracking and monitoring over time.
