Leaderboards rank members by activity, showcasing top performers and relative standings. They encourage friendly competition, boost participation, and recognize active members, making them feel valued.

Returning.AI comes with a default community leaderboard that ranks members by XP Units and displays their level, tier, and badges for all to see. Custom, limited-time leaderboards can also be created to facilitate different kinds of competitions within your community.

Default Leaderboard

Your default community leaderboards can be enabled by heading into your leaderboards tab in your community settings.

Default leaderboards rank members by XP earned and display their tier, level, and selected badges. You can switch views between all-time, monthly, weekly, and daily statistics. By accessing your leaderboards, each individual user can view details about available tiers, the units needed to reach them, and ways to earn gamification units.

Custom Leaderboards

Returning.AI offers Custom Leaderboards, which allow you to fully control gamification. You can create special leaderboards based on your chosen metrics, set timeframes, and customize viewing permissions for each leaderboard.

This flexibility allows you to run multiple competitions targeted at different user groups and time-limited competitions designed to increase your community's activity within a set period of time. Thus, you can drive engagement and excitement in your community by running targeted or time-limited competitions.

To create a custom leaderboard, go to the Custom Leaderboard tab in your gamification settings and click the plus button at the top.

Customize the following fields:

  • Name: Give your leaderboard a clear and identifying name.

  • Description: Add context about the leaderboard’s purpose or event details for your members.

  • Image (Optional): Upload an image for branding, visible in your gamification header and leaderboard.

  • Duration: Set start and end dates. During this period, only relevant data will be displayed, with a visible countdown to the end.

  • Time Filter View: You can choose how rankings update—daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or all-time.

  • Rank By: Select the main metric to rank members, such as XP, Coins, or other stats.

  • Performance Display:

    • Show Top Results Only: Limit the number of members displayed to the top performers instead of the entire community.

  • Displayed Fields: Choose extra metrics, like first names, last names, levels, or tiers, to show alongside the ranking metric.

  • Roles/Users: Specify which roles or users are ranked on the leaderboard (e.g., targeting new members for a specific event).

  • Viewing Permissions: Restrict who can view the leaderboard. This is ideal for running multiple competitions for different groups simultaneously.

Once you've configured all the necessary fields, click on Save to save your changes.

Set Your Main Leaderboard

Once you've set up all your leaderboards, you can choose the one you'd like to display as your main leaderboard. Your main leaderboard will be the one displayed first on your gamification bar. Select your main leaderboard by simply clicking on the leaderboard you'd like to
