Troubleshooting File Upload Issues for Submitters

If a submitter is having trouble uploading a file, walk through the following checklist to help resolve the issue:

Ensure No Error Messages Were Encountered

Ask the submitter if they saw an error message when trying to move forward or submit their form.

Note: Required file upload fields will display an error at the top of the page if left incomplete, even though they don’t show a red asterisk (*).

Ensure a File Name Was Entered

Verify that the submitter entered a name in the File Name field after uploading.

A file cannot be uploaded or saved without a name—this will block progress in the form.

Check That the File Meets Upload Requirements

Make sure the submitter’s file matches the following:

  • Accepted File Type – Must be one of the supported formats listed in the field (e.g., .pdf, .docx, .jpg).

  • File Size Limit – Typically capped at 500MB. Larger files will not upload.

  • File Quality – Ask the submitter to open the file. If it won’t open or errors occur, have them save a new version or convert it to another supported type.

Ask the Submitter to Check Their Browser & Extensions

Browser settings and extensions can interfere with uploads. Recommend they:

  • Disable any pop-up blockers or ad-blocking extensions

  • Clear their browser cache

  • Try opening the form in a private/incognito window

  • Use the latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox on a desktop device

Still Not Working?

If, after checking all of the above, the issue is still occurring, reach out to the Reviewr team via the chat tool on your admin dashboard. They can help investigate the issue further and provide support as needed.
