How do I assign a group to a reviewer/judge?

In Reviewr, groups are used to control which submissions a reviewer or judge can see and evaluate. Assigning a reviewer to the correct group ensures they only have access to the submissions intended for them—helping keep the review process organized, fair, and efficient.

You can assign a reviewer/judge to a group in two different ways:

Option 1: From the Users Page

This is the fastest way if you already know the reviewer(s) you want to assign.

  1. Navigate to the Users page in your admin dashboard.

  2. Click the Reviewers tab to see a list of all assigned judges/reviewers.

  3. Locate the reviewer(s) you want to assign.

  4. Check the box next to their name(s).

  5. Scroll to the Bulk Actions dropdown and select Add Group(s).

  6. Choose the group(s) from the dropdown list and confirm.

Tip: You can select multiple reviewers at once to save time.

Option 2: From the Groups and Divisions Page

This method is helpful if you’re starting from a specific group and want to assign multiple reviewers to it.

  1. Go to the Groups and Divisions page.

  2. Locate the group you want to add reviewers to.

  3. Click Assign Reviewer next to that group.

  4. In the popup list, check the box next to each reviewer you want to assign.

  5. Save your changes.

Why Group Assignments Matter

  • Control Access: Reviewers only see the submissions in their assigned group(s).

  • Streamline Workflows: Keeps evaluation assignments clear and avoids accidental cross-reviewing.

  • Support Multi-Round Events: Groups can be used to split reviewers by category, location, round, or custom criteria.

Best Practice: Review your group assignments before evaluations begin to ensure all reviewers have access to the correct submissions and nothing extra.
