An efficient insurance workflow is essential for handling claims and making sure patients can afford the care they need. The Claims Tab in Clerk will allow you to view, submit, resubmit, filter, manually change claim statuses, and archive your claims as needed. Let's break it down!
The top of the Claims Tab will allow you to search for a desired patient, filter by status, insurance company, submitted age, and more. You can also select multiple claims and submit them to the clearinghouse at once. You can also see how many claims are in each status by looking at and selecting the filters in blue.
If you need to manually update the status of a claim, locate and select the pencil icon next to the status to reveal the status dropdown:
Claims that have not been submitted will allow you to select a status to update to either New, Ready for Submission, or Queued for Transfer:
If the claim has been submitted to the clearinghouse, and you need to manually update the status, you can select the the following status options: Submitted, Rejected, Accepted, Partially Paid, or Paid.
Under the Actions column on the far right, you can:
archive the claim
duplicate a claim so you can resubmit it
view related claims if they have been duplicated for resubmission
and view claim responses once they are received from the clearinghouse
The Bulk Actions dropdown will allow you to archive or unarchive multiple claims at once, or export the desired claims as a report that can get pulled up in a spreadsheet:
