NVA requires an approval for services like eye exams, frames, lenses, and contact lenses before we can send them a bill. You can get this authorization for all services at once or for each service separately. This authorization number will show up on the patient's insurance information (called an "insurance snapshot") in Aloha. If set up, this information will also be saved in the patient's electronic health record (EHR).
Here are the steps to get an authorization for an NVA patient:
Find the Patient: In Aloha, search for the patient.
Go to Authorizations: Click on "Authorizations." A side panel will appear on the right side of your screen, showing the services that are available.
Choose and Pull: Check the box next to the service you want to get an authorization for, then click "Pull Authorization."
If an option is available, it will show up in green.
If an option is not available, it will show up in red.
If your office has already pulled an authorization, the authorization number will be displayed.
If another office has pulled an authorization, it will be yellow and say "Authorization held by a different office."
To Cancel/Delete: To cancel or delete an existing authorization in PracticePal, select the authorization's checkbox and then click "Submit Request."
