Each practice has their own process on how to handle and send out Claims. In Clerk, there are two options for processing Claims from the Appointment-Associated Invoice: One-Click Claim or Queue For Claim.
The One-Click Claim button will create the claim and set it with a status of Ready for Submission so that at the end of your day, you can easily head to the Claims tab and Bulk Submit. If you do not see this option on the invoice, then there is information Clerk recognizes as missing that is required in order for a claim to be accepted. You will want to check that the Patient Profile is thoroughly filled out, along with the Line Items and Treatment tabs on the Appointment's Outcome screen.
The Queue For Claim button is best for clinics who want to review each claim before submission. Clicking this will queue that claim in the Claims tab and leave it with a status of New. Any Claims in the New status must be reviewed before they can be submitted.
You can either review a New claim directly from the checkout page or you can, open the claim from the Claims tab and review each tab, hitting Next on the bottom right until you hit the Save button on the final page.
Clerk is intuitive, and should not allow you to submit a Claim that is not fully filled out. Clicking Next Step on the bottom will allow you to navigate through the tabs at the top. If any of the required fields are not populated with information that it should have, Clerk will alert you with the areas that need to be filled out by highlighting them in red:
If you happen to navigate through the tabs at the top, Clerk should still tell you that you have missing information by showing you the following at the very end of the Claim:
Once saved, that claim's status will update to Ready for Submission and you will then be able to submit that claim! π
