How Custom Roles Work

A custom role allows you to give multiple users access to specific pages based on their assigned role. For example, if you create a custom role called “City Clerk” and assign John and other users to that role, you can assign the City Clerk role to the Government page. John and all other users with the City Clerk role will automatically have access to the Government page and its child pages. You do not need to add each user individually to the Government page.

Important: Every user assigned the City Clerk role must also have the Editor role. The Editor role is required to allow the user to be individually assigned to other pages that are not covered by the City Clerk role. For example, if John needs access to a separate City Council page, you can add John to that page as an Editor without giving access to the City Council page to all users with the City Clerk role.

This setup allows the City Clerk role to manage access to the Government section while the Editor role provides the flexibility to give individual users access to additional pages.
