Modifying Linked Product Data with the Online Store (V.2)
Updated over a week ago

📢 This article explains "the impact of modifying linked product data with the online store (Version 2)", which is being gradually rolled out to all customers. You can check the installed version on your platform through the Orders menu. If you are using Version 1, click [here] to view the relevant articles.

Managing product data when linking Rewaa with online stores such as Salla and Zid requires updating linked product information, including modifying the product name, quantity, SKU, and other details. Ensuring data consistency across platforms helps prevent errors caused by discrepancies between product details in both systems.

This article explains how these modifications impact linked products between Rewaa and the online store and how to manage them correctly to avoid operational issues.

SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)

  • If the SKU is modified in either Rewaa or the online store for a linked product, the SKU is automatically updated in the other platform.

  • If the SKU is deleted from the online store for a linked product, the product will only be unlinked, and its status will change to "Not Found". It will not be deleted from either platform.

ℹ️ If the modification is applied to a multi-variant product:

  • The change only affects the specific variant whose SKU was updated.

Example: You have a glass cup available in blue, red, and green. If the product variants are correctly linked between platforms and you modify the SKU for the red variant, only the red variant's SKU will be updated, while the other colors remain unchanged.

Product Quantity

  • Rewaa serves as the primary reference for product quantities linked to the online store.

  • The quantity displayed in the online store is always updated based on the data recorded in Rewaa.

  • Any modification or adjustment to the product quantity in Rewaa—whether manual stock changes, sales through Rewaa Cashier, purchase invoices, purchase returns, or inventory adjustments—will be reflected in the online store.

⚠️ Manually changing the product quantity in the online store will NOT affect the quantity in Rewaa. To prevent order issues or discrepancies, all quantity modifications should be made in Rewaa.

Product Data

  • Modifications to product details (e.g., product name, description, price, category) in either Rewaa or the online store do NOT reflect on the other platform.

  • This means that you can sell the same product at a different name or price on each platform independently.

  • The only exceptions that automatically sync between platforms are:

    • SKU modifications

    • Quantity adjustments

FAQs

1️- I deleted the SKU, and the product was unlinked. How can I relink it?

To relink the product correctly:

  1. Ensure that the product exists on both platforms with a matching SKU.

  2. Go to Apps > My Apps > Product Management.

  3. Search for the product by name or SKU, then click Link.

The product will be relinked successfully, and orders will resume processing correctly.

2️- I allow negative stock sales in Rewaa. How will this affect my online store's inventory?

If a product quantity goes negative in Rewaa, the online store will display the quantity as (0).

3️- I changed the product name and retail price. Can I republish the product so the updates reflect in the online store?

  • Re-publishing the product will not update its details in the online store.

  • You must manually update the product details on the online store.

ℹ️ Publishing a product from Rewaa helps create the product in the online store with the correct SKU and stock quantity, saving time. Click [here] for more details.

4️- If I edit product details in the online store (Salla, Zid), will these changes reflect in Rewaa?

No, any changes made directly in the online store will NOT sync with Rewaa.

Rewaa should always be used as the primary reference for all product updates.

5️- What is the difference between deleting a product and deleting an SKU?

Deleting a product means removing it from the platform where it was deleted:

  • Example: If you delete a product from Rewaa, it will only be removed from Rewaa and will remain on the online store.

  • If the product was linked, the link will be automatically removed, as it no longer exists on both platforms.

Deleting an SKU means removing the SKU from the product details but NOT deleting the product itself:

  • If the product was linked, deleting the SKU will break the link between the two platforms.

ℹ️ SKU deletion is only possible in the online store. You cannot delete a product’s SKU from Rewaa.
