Connecting Rewaa to ZATCA

As part of the second phase of e-invoicing implemented by ZATCA, businesses are required to integrate their electronic invoicing systems (like Rewaa) with ZATCA's Fatoorah platform for invoice reporting and verification. Rewaa provides a free integration service that automatically sends invoices to ZATCA for review and approval. Below are the steps for establishing the connection.

Steps to Connect with ZATCA

  1. Install the Integration Application

    • Navigate to:

      • Apps > Available Apps > ZATCA Integration App > Install.

  • Read the instructions carefully and click on Proceed to install.

  • Verify Company Information

    • Your previously entered details in Settings > Company Information will appear:

      • Company Name

      • VAT Number

      • TIN (Tax Identification Number): first 10 digits of the tax number

      • Industry

    • Ensure accuracy and make corrections if necessary.

  • Add Main Branch Address

    • Enter the address as per your national address details:

      • Commercial Registration Number

      • Street Name

      • Building Number

      • Additional Number

      • Postal Code

      • District

      • City

      • Country

    • After reviewing, click Next.

  • Activate Integration

    • Obtain the activation code from ZATCA:

      • Log in to ZATCA's portal.

      • Navigate to the Fatoorah platform.

      • Click Set Up a New Unit/Device and generate an activation code.

    • Copy the activation code and paste it into Rewaa, then click Start Integration.

  • Complete the Integration

    • After verification, a confirmation message will appear: Service Connected Successfully.

    • You can now issue invoices in compliance with ZATCA's Phase Two requirements.

Invoice Verification Mechanism

Simplified Tax Invoice (B2C)

  • Typically issued from businesses to individuals.

  • Invoices are automatically sent to ZATCA for reporting upon issuance.

  • Invoices are printed immediately, with no additional steps required.

Tax Invoice (B2B)

  • Issued from one business to another.

  • Invoices are sent to ZATCA for review before printing. Results are displayed within seconds:

    • Approved Invoice: Print immediately.

    • Rejected Invoice: An error message will appear with corrections required. Fix the issues and reissue the invoice.

  1. Is Phase Two mandatory for all VAT-registered entities?

    • ZATCA is implementing this phase gradually. Affected entities will be notified beforehand. Check ZATCA's website for updates.

  2. How long does ZATCA take to review an invoice?

    • The review process typically takes a few seconds.

  3. Can I issue invoices without connecting to ZATCA?

    • Yes, you can issue invoices. However, integration is mandatory for businesses notified by ZATCA.

  4. Does integration with ZATCA replace VAT return submissions?

    • No, VAT returns must still be submitted as per ZATCA's requirements.

  5. Are invoices issued before integration sent to ZATCA?

    • Only invoices issued after successful integration are sent to ZATCA.

  6. Are both sales and purchase invoices sent to ZATCA?

    Only sales invoices are sent; purchase invoices are not included.
