📲 Setting Up Device Permissions for CICO
Before team members can use Clock In/Clock Out (CICO)—whether in Kiosk Mode or as individual users—you’ll need to ensure mobile devices have the proper permissions enabled.
These permissions are critical for features like location tracking, photo verification, and geofencing to function properly.
✅ Required Permissions
Permission | Why It’s Needed |
Location Access | Captures GPS at clock in/out and validates geofencing rules |
Camera Access | Required for photo verification during clock in/out |
📷 Tip: If photo capture or geofence validation is part of your workflow, these permissions must be enabled for CICO to work as expected.
📱 iOS: Enable Permissions for Rhumbix
Open the Settings app
Scroll down and tap Rhumbix
Tap Location
Select While Using the App or Always
Toggle Precise Location to ON (recommended)
Toggle Camera access to ON
🤖 Android: Enable Permissions for Rhumbix
Open the Settings app
Tap Apps or Apps & Notifications
Scroll and select Rhumbix
Tap Permissions
Grant access to:
Location → Choose Allow all the time or Allow while using the app
Camera → Choose Allow
⚠️ If these permissions are not enabled, workers will not be able to log in.
⚙️ Configuring Clock In/Clock Out (CICO) Settings in Rhumbix
Rhumbix's Clock In/Clock Out (CICO) workflow offers a range of configuration options that allow you to tailor time tracking to your company’s needs. CICO can be configured at both the Group level and the Project level, depending on how your team is organized.
This guide walks through both configuration paths and outlines all available options.
🧑🤝🧑 CICO Configuration at the Group Level
Configuring CICO at the Group level is a great way to apply consistent settings across multiple projects or for a specific group of employees (e.g., travelers, union crews, etc.).
🔁 Important: Group-level CICO settings default for new projects added to that group - the settings do not update existing projects. However, these settings can be overridden at the project level.
To configure:
Go to Company Settings > Modify Groups
Select the group you want to update
Scroll down to the Clock In/Clock Out section
You’ll see the following options:
✅ Enable Clock In/Clock Out
🔧 Turns CICO on for all users in the group and all new projects assigned to that group.
If disabled, users will not see the CICO tab, and time tracking via clock in/out will not be available—unless configured directly at the project level.
🍽️ Include Meals and Breaks
Yes – Workers will be prompted to record meals and breaks.
No – These options will be hidden from the workflow.
⏱️ Rounding for Timekeeping Increments
This setting applies only when CICO data is imported onto a timecard. It determines how total time worked is rounded for timecard calculations. Individual clock in/out entries are not altered—Rhumbix preserves the original timestamp data.
You can configure two parts:
Timekeeping increment: The unit to round to (e.g., 15 minutes)
Rounding threshold: The midpoint used to determine whether to round up or down (e.g., 5 minutes)
🕐 This allows your timecards to align with payroll policies while maintaining audit-compliant clock data.
Example:
A worker clocks in at 7:57 AM and out at 8:56 AM (total: 59 minutes):
Timekeeping Increment | Rounding Threshold | Resulting Rounded Time |
15 minutes | 7.5 minutes | 1 hour (rounds up) |
15 minutes | 15 minutes | 45 minutes (rounds down) |
🛡️ Identity Verification and Compliance
📷 Photo Capture
Choose how strictly to enforce photo collection at clock-in:
Required
Captured but not required
Do Not Collect
📍 Geolocation Collection
Choose how geolocation is handled:
🗺️ Geofence Options
You can set a geofence to validate that users are clocking in from an approved location.
Options include:
🔧 You can define a radius (in miles or kilometers) around the address. Polygon drawing is only available when using a custom address.
🏗️ CICO Configuration at the Project Level
Projects inherit CICO settings from their assigned Group by default. However, any setting can be customized at the project level, which will override the group configuration for that project.
To configure:
Go to Company Settings > Modify Projects
Select the project you want to update
Scroll to the Clock In/Clock Out section in the right panel
You’ll see the same configuration options as the group level, including:
Enable/Disable CICO
Include Meals and Breaks
Time Rounding
Photo & Location Capture
Geofence Settings (with polygon drawing option available)
⚙️ Project Overrides: Project-level settings always take precedence over group-level defaults.
🛠️ Available CICO Settings at the Project Level
Here’s a breakdown of each customer-facing option available when modifying a project:
✅ Clock In/Out – Y/N
Turn this setting on to enable CICO for the selected project.
Turning it off will remove the CICO tab and prevent time tracking using clock in/out for that project.
⏱️ Include Meals & Breaks – Y/N
When this is enabled, workers will be prompted to record meal and break times during their shift.
Disabling this removes those options from the CICO flow.
🔄 Rounding for Timekeeping – 0 to 15 minutes
This setting allows you to round clock in/out entries to the nearest selected increment.
For example, rounding to 15 minutes will adjust punch times to the closest quarter hour.
This is often used to align with payroll policies or union agreements.
🛡️ Identity Verification and Compliance Settings
These settings help ensure timecard entries are verified and compliant with your company’s policies or state regulations.
📷 Photo Capture Options
You can control whether workers are prompted to take a photo when clocking in or out:
Required – Workers must take a photo to proceed.
Captured but not required – A photo will be captured if possible, but not enforced.
Do Not Collect – Photo capture is disabled entirely.
📍 Geolocation Tracking
Determine how the app handles GPS data during CICO:
Required – A valid GPS location is required to clock in or out.
Captured but not required – GPS data will be captured if available, but is not mandatory.
Do Not Collect – Disables location tracking.
🗺️ Geofence Settings
You can draw a custom polygon geofence around your project location.
If enabled, geofencing can be used to confirm that a user is clocking in or out from an approved location.
Note: Geofence enforcement is not currently required by default.
💡 Tip
All of these options can be tailored per project. That means you can enable CICO for one group of employees while keeping self-entry or crew timecards active on other projects.
