Why import your own Twilio phone number?
4 reasons why:
When you already have your own phone numbers in twilio
When you need another phone number than available through Ringly.io
When you're making a ton of calls
When you want to verify your phone number
6 steps to import your phone number
Everyone can follow these steps – no code or technical knowledge needed.
Step 1: Create a 'trunk'
Go to Twilio (click here for the right page):
Create a new trunk, give it a name (any name you want), and enable 'Call Transfer' and 'PSTN Transfer':
Step 2: Give the 'termination URL' a name
In the left menu click on 'Termination'. Fill in a name in the input (any name you want). You'll use this 'termination SIP URI' in later steps.
Step 3: Add some IP addresses
Click on + here:
Add this info and hit save: default ACL 1 and 0.0.0.0
Create another one with this info: default ACL 2 and 128.0.0.0
Don't forget to save!
Step 4: Paste our 'origination URL'
In the left menu, click on Origination. Hit the + and paste this url sip:5t4n6j0wnrl.sip.livekit.cloud (the picture shows the old url)
Step 5: Add phone numbers to your trunk
You’ve created your trunk! Now add a phone number to it:
Step 6: Import to Ringly.io
In Ringly.io go to the integrations and open Twilio for calls. Create a new trunk. Add a phone number that you also added to the trunk in Twilio. Choose agents or do that later. And then add the Termination URI you created in step 2.
Now the number is imported, you can make and receive calls with this number just like a number you purchased from Ringly.io — it will show up in your dashboard, and you can make phone calls from dashboard directly.
FAQs:
It says the phone number is already imported, but it's not in my account?
A phone number can only be linked to one trunk at a time. It looks like your number is either:
In your Ringly account
In another Ringly account
Already imported via a related service, e.g. another voice AI platform. You’ll need to remove it there before importing it here.
How much do I pay for imported phone numbers?
Nothing from us! You only pay the costs from Twilio, but we don't charge anything.
After connecting, inbound works but outbound does not work?
Check your Termination SIP URI If there’s a space in it, please remove. Also you should use a localized termination uri that’s near your region. Check out this doc to select one.
Check your user name and credentials Please make sure you entered the right user name and credentials which shows in this dialog. Please note the user name is not the friendly name that shows in the credential list. The friendly is different to user name, you need to double check if you happen to give a different name.
How do I set up dialing to international countries?
Search “geo” to find the “Voice Geographic Permissions” setting.
Choose “Elastic Sip Trunking” in selector, and select the countries you would like to dial.
