💡 Discounts are applied before tax. Taxes will be calculated based on the discounted subtotal. If a profit minimum is set at the template level, the team cannot apply a discount that goes below this minimum.
Discount FAQ’s:
Where can I add a discount? Discounts can be added to proposals only, not to templates.
Can I add more than one discount? You can add one discount per estimate option. To combine multiple discount types, customize the discount title (e.g., "Military + Promotion Discount - 10% off").
Can applying a discount make my estimate unprofitable? Not if you set up profit guardrails in your templates. These guardrails prevent team members from adding discounts that don't meet your profit requirements.
How do I prevent my team from adding discounts? You can't currently block discount usage, but profit guardrails in templates will prevent discounts that don't meet your minimum profit requirements.
How to add an upgrade to your proposal
Tap the proposal you wish to add an upgrade to, then tap Edit option
Tap Add, then Upgrade
Tap Add again, and select line item
Enter the item you wish to include as an upgrade and add any details
Tap Save
💡 Upgrades are optional add-ons. If you’re offering an upgraded version of an item in your base proposal, your upgrade should reflect the additional cost of the upgraded item. The price of the line item should be the difference in price between the upgraded option and the base option.
💡 Customers must select an estimate option before choosing any upgrades
Upgrade FAQ’s:
What type of upgrades can I add? Upgrades are flexible and commonly used for:
Warranties (1, 3, 5, 10-year options)
Premium materials (upgraded underlayment)
Additional services (gutters, windows, siding)
Can I add upgrades to my catalog? Yes. Label upgraded materials clearly as "upgrade" in your catalog to easily add them as proposal line items.
When should I use upgrades vs multi-select options? Use upgrades when the add-on only applies to a specific estimate option (customers must choose the base option first). Example: Offering gutters as an upgrade to roofing options when gutters aren't sold standalone.
Use multi-select when customers can choose additional options independently of other selections. Example: Offering gutters as a separate option that customers can select with or without roofing work.
Can upgrade line items replace the original estimate items? No. Upgrades are added alongside the original items, so label them clearly to show the price difference between base and upgraded options.
