A Cat S car (formerly CAT C) is one which has sustained structural damage during a crash – think items such as the chassis and suspension. While Cat S cars can safely be repaired and put back on the road, they must be re-registered with the DVLA.

We require all CAT S cars to have an engineer's report, which can be obtained from any qualified automotive engineer (not a garage), details of which companies can be found online. The Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors website will be a useful starting point www.iaea-online.org/. We regularly use Associated Independent Assessors Ltd, telephone 0845 3017744, www.aia-ltd.co.uk who are happy to undertake inspections for reassurance purposes.
