How do I enable my settings for Android

Please enable the necessary permissions! 📲👍

Hi there!

Thank you for starting your Test Drive with Rooster Car Insurance! 👏

However, we are currently not able to measure your driving as the required permissions haven't been enabled on your Android device.

In order to build your driving score, we need the location, physical activity, battery and media permissions granted for our app. The media permission is needed so we can store your driving data when you're not connected to the internet.

We take data privacy very seriously here at Rooster. Data collected is only ever used to generate the driving score which we use for our quotes. We are FCA registered and will never share or sell your data.

Follow these simple instructions to correctly enable permissions:

  1. Open 'Settings' on your Android device

  2. Click 'Location'

  3. Click 'Rooster' under 'Recent Location Requests'

  4. Click 'Permissions'

  5. Click 'Location'

  6. Make sure 'Allow all the time' is enabled

  7. Click back and open 'Physical Activity'

  8. Make sure 'Allow' is turned on

  9. Lastly, click back and open 'Files and media permission'

  10. Make sure 'Allow access to media only' is enabled

We also require Battery Optimisation to be turned off for our app specifically, to ensure we're able to collect your driving data in the background. To disable it, follow these instructions:

In the app you'll see a pop-up, click ‘OK, open settings’.

On the top drop-down menu, change it to ‘All’

Click the search magnifying class in the top right and enter ‘rooster’

Turn the blue toggle button off and return to the Rooster app.

You're all set!
