RotoWire MLB: Five Paid Subscriber Features To Take Advantage Of

Whether you're new to RotoWire or a long-time MLB customer, here are five season-long MLB features worth checking out.

Updated over 4 months ago

Saves are one of the most important parts of fantasy baseball, and with more teams turning to a committee, it's more vital than ever before to stay on top of each team's pecking order for the ninth inning.

RotoWire's Closer Grid offers a snapshot of each team's current closer, along with an assessment of their job security and the players who are next in line to take the job.

The page also offers a "Closer In Waiting" ranking to help with speculative waiver wire decisions. This list includes players who are on the IL or in the minors, either for a tune-up or a rehab assignment.

Scroll down further for relief pitcher stats, as well as constantly-updated, written assessments of each team's current bullpen situation.

If you import a league via MyLeagues, you can see at a glance which players you own, which are owned by other managers and which are currently available on the waiver wire.

This list is maintained by RotoWire MLB Editor and Prospect Guru James Anderson, who updates the list at regularly-scheduled intervals throughout the year. Updates occur in mid-January, late-March, just before Memorial Day (late-May), after the draft (mid-July), late-August and end of the regular season (early-October).

Unlike regular farm system/prospect rankings you may find elsewhere, these rankings are geared purely for fantasy. For example, defensive stars that won't contribute as much in your 5x5 categories are downgraded, as are pitchers likely to end up in relief/long-relief roles.

If you import a league via MyLeagues, you can see at a glance which players you own, which are owned by other managers and which are currently available on the waiver wire. This can help with speculative waiver wire adds in deeper formats.

Here are some other guidelines for our prospect rankings:

1. Players who have exceeded rookie qualifications (130 AB, 50 IP, 45 days on pre-September MLB roster) are not included.

2. International signees who are 25 or older are not included.

3. Amateur players and international free agents are not included.

4. This list tilts more toward fantasy (standard 5x5 roto) potential than MLB potential.

5. Black arrows next to a player's name indicate whether the player is more or less valuable in OBP leagues.

6. Green/Red arrows indicate changes over the last 14 days. Players in the top 100 who have moved more than 10 spots and players outside the top 100 who have moved more than 40 spots will have an arrow. Players in the top 100 who have moved more than 20 spots and players outside the top 100 who have moved more than 80 spots will have two arrows.

7. Blue plus marks indicate players that were recently added to the list.

3. FAAB Factor Column -- For Free Agent Pickups

The scope of the fantasy baseball waiver wire is too wide for one writer to cover in a single column, so we offer league-specific breakdowns to help users in a variety of formats. These articles go in-depth on players worth keeping an eye on, along with FAAB bid recommendations for the most common league format types.

We also offer a Thursday MLB FAAB Factor update (https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/column/mlb-faab-factor-583) for leagues that run waivers on Thursdays instead of the traditional Sunday evening.

If you import a league via MyLeagues, you can see at a glance which players referenced in the article you own, which are owned by other managers and which are currently available on the waiver wire. This makes it easy to see which players should be in your waiver wire queue.

RotoWire projects starting pitchers for each team approximately four weeks out, so this is a resource to analyze pitching matchups at a glance, discover two-start pitchers and help make lineup decisions.

Use the customizable options at the top of the page to set the period start date for your league, as well as how far you want to look out (the default is seven days).

If you import a league via MyLeagues, you can see at a glance which players in the grid you own, which are owned by other managers and which are currently available on the waiver wire. This allows you to easily identify which two-start pitchers you may want to consider adding, as well as how many starts your rostered pitchers project for the upcoming game week.

While features like our custom MLB rankings and overall top-300 fantasy baseball rankings (for 5x5 leagues) allow you to look ahead, this popular evaluation tool looks back at player performance so far. If your league ended today, these are the dollar values "earned" by each player. Use it as another evaluation tool for prospective trades, or simply to see how your players stack up with the rest of the league in terms of current-season performance.

If you import a league via MyLeagues, you can see at a glance which players on the list you own, which are owned by other managers and which are currently available on the waiver wire.
