Knowledge cards and definitions
Updated over a week ago

Knowledge cards and definitions are key ways Rovo gives you the relevant information you need, without leaving the context of your work.

Knowledge cards

Knowledge cards allow you to delve into related topics, follow-up questions, and discover connections and insights.

You can see knowledge cards:

  • above the results in Search

  • by selecting an highlighted term in Confluence or Jira.

Definitions

When you’ve come across some company jargon or a project you’ve never heard of, Rovo can help you find out what it means.

You can see a definition in Jira and Confluence by either:

  • Select a highlighted term that Rovo has automatically recognised as an acronym

  • Highlight any other text and choose Define.

Rovo will then search Confluence on your current site for the most likely definition.

Add or edit a definition

If the definition isn't quite right, or your acronym means something else in a particular context, you can simply add a new definition.

Definitions can be restricted to show only in a specific Confluence space, Jira project, or opened up to the whole site - allowing you and your teammates to get the right terms for your context.

To add a definition:

  1. Go to the view mode of a Confluence page, highlight the word you want to define.

  2. Select Define.

  3. Once the definition appears, select the pencil icon at the top right of the card.

  4. Type your new Definition, and optionally Add a Source of a Confluence page. Select Next.

  5. Choose a visibility restriction. Select Update.

Your edited definition will be visible immediately. Definitions can be edited by anyone on your site, and are stored for one year.

Turning off definitions

If you’d prefer, you can turn off all highlighting for definitions (either determined by Rovo or added by teammates).

To turn off definition highlighting showing for you:

  1. Go to the view mode of a Confluence page, highlight any word.

  2. Select Define.

  3. Once the definition appears, select the more actions () button at the top right of the card.

  4. Toggle on Don’t recommend definitions at all.
