What is the Review Module?
The Review Module is a tool that assists with your review of patent applications available as either Word .docx or Rowan Patents .rp files. It uses natural language processing (NLP) and other locally-hosted techniques to quickly analyze a patent application draft for the types of issues that can cause objections and rejections during Patent Office examination. None of your data is sent to the cloud for these analyses.
What can you do with the Review Module?
The Review Module allows you to analyze .rp and .docx patent application files for:
Antecedent basis
Unsupported claim concepts
Claim and Abstract informalities
Part reference consistency
Acronym definition
Profanity/limiting language
In addition, the Review Module let's you check .rp files for usage and consistency of terms, part references, sequences, compounds, and Markush groups.
You can review a list of issues in the report window, where you can filter issues by type and elect to ignore individual issues. You can also access additional review tools like the Rowan Patents Consistency Review, Claim Tree, and Profanity Lists in this window.
A document window is provided where you can review the text of the patent application. Controls in the report window allow you to insert comments for the issues into the document window, either altogether, or individually. You can make and track minor suggestions to the application text in the document window.
From the Review Module you can either export the application document and additional markup to Word or open it as a Rowan Patents file to continue the drafting and revision process.
Access and Use the Review Module
Open the Review Module from the Rowan Patents landing screen.
Drag and drop the .rp or .docx file you wish to review onto the field provided
OR
Click the Select File button to browse for the file in your local filesystem.
Click the checkboxes to deselect issues you don't wish to analyze for.
If analyzing for profanity and limiting language, select the profanity list you wish to use.
Click the Review File button.
Use the controls provide in the report window to filter issues by type, ignore issues, and insert issue comments and navigate to issue locations in the document window.
Comment navigation controls are provided in the document window.
Make desired text changes in the document window.
Text change suggestions will be marked up for tracking.
Export the document and markup as a Word .docx file or open it in Rowan Patents as a .rp file.
