Rowan analytics deploys expert bots to automatically review patent applications and amended claims for novelty, patentability, antecedent basis, claim support, term consistency and more.

Launching Rowan Proofreading and Analytics

  1. In your Google Chrome browser, navigate to

    [firm domain].turbopatent.us/proofreading/

Note: the "firm domain" is typically the same as your email domain — between the @ and the .com

  2. Sign in using your Rowan credentials (email and password) if needed.

  3. Select the type of document you would like Rowan proofreading and analytics to review using the fields provided:

    • Draft Patent Application

    • Office Action Response

    • US Patent or Publication

Review additional instructions below for each document type.

Reviewing Draft Patent Applications

  1. Select "Draft Patent Application"

  2. Drag and drop, or browse to find the draft patent application document* you want to have reviewed.

*Rowan analytics accepts Microsoft Word DOCX files.

Reviewing Office Action Responses

Rowan analytics can review amended claims for possible antecedent basis and formality issues that may have been introduced. Optionally, Rowan analytics can also review for claim support and figure part issues if the specification is provided.

  1. Select "Office Action Response" on the landing page.

  2. Drag and drop, or browse to find the amended claim set.

Note that the claims can be submitted as a separate document or as part of the Office action response. If the entire response is provided, Rowan analytics will automatically identify and analyze the claim set within the response.

Note also that Rowan analytics will analyze the claims as amended, eliminating language that has been stricken, and including language that has been added/underlined.  This works whether you are using Word's track changes or formatting tools to identify amendments.

  3. Add the original specification, or skip this step to only review the claims.

Reviewing Published Patent Applications and Granted Patents

Rowan analytics can review published US patent applications and granted patents as well.

  1. On the landing page, enter a US publication or patent number in the blank field near the bottom.

  2. Click "Review".

  3. Rowan analytics will automatically search for, retrieve and analyze the entered document.

Note: If you are reviewing a granted patent, Rowan analytics will analyze either the pre-grant application or the granted patent as published based on the number you enter.

    • Entering a publication number (e.g. 2017/1234567) will analyze the pre-grant application.

    • Entering a patent number (e.g. 9123456) will analyze the granted patent as published.

Rowan Analytics Report Generation

In all three scenarios above, Rowan analytics will analyze the submitted document and generate the reports.  This usually takes around 30 seconds, depending on length of the draft application.
