The new auction clock at RFH Auction (app on Floriday) works via your web browser. This means you don’t need to install any separate software, but it does mean that your computer, monitor, keyboard and internet connection must be set up correctly. With the right hardware and settings, you can avoid delays and buy reliably.

In this article you will find more information about:

1. Web browser: how RFH Auction works best

RFH Auction runs in a web browser. We recommend using Google Chrome / Chromium, as it performs better than other browsers.

Make sure your browser, operating system and drivers are always up to date. How you do this depends on your internet connection:

1a. Updates via your own internet connection

Are you bidding at the auction using your own (business) internet connection? If so, you can usually carry out updates yourself.

Browser (preferably Chrome)

  1. Open your browser.

  2. Go to settings.

  3. Select About [browser name].

The browser will automatically check for updates and prompt you to install them

Operating system (Windows)

  1. Go to settings via the Start menu.

  2. Select Update & Security.

  3. Do you see a button to update to Windows 11? If so, click Download.

1b. Updates via the Marktplaats Network (MPN)

Do you buy at auction via MPN? If so, updating may be more difficult. This is because you cannot install updates for Windows or your browser via MPN.

Limited internet access

Can’t access the download servers? If so, temporarily use a different internet connection, such as a mobile hotspot or another network.

This will allow you to download the updates after all.

System administration

Is your computer managed by an internal or external IT provider? Ask them to install the updates for you. They can often handle this centrally.

Are you genuinely unable to update due to technical limitations?

If so, please contact our Client Contact Centre in good time. We’d be happy to help you find a solution.

TIP 1: When buying, do not use any extra windows or overlays that cover the clock (such as notifications or other programmes)

TIP 2: Carry out updates at a quiet time, for example after the auction has ended. Sometimes your computer will restart. If you’re having trouble, ask your system administrator or IT support for help.

2. Computer (laptop or desktop)

As a rule, use a modern workstation. A processor that is too old or too slow can cause delays. Recommended minimum specifications:

  • Processor: at least Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5

  • RAM: 16 GB (DDR4 minimum)

  • Operating system: Windows 11, always with the latest updates

  • Age: no more than 5 years old

Tip: when purchasing a new workstation, avoid entry-level models. A slightly more powerful processor ensures a more stable shopping experience.

3. Monitor: more important than you think

The monitor plays a major role in ensuring a fast and enjoyable experience when buying. Recommended specifications:

  • Minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Full HD)

  • A monitor with a higher refresh rate (e.g. 120 Hz)

  • Support for variable refresh rate (VRR). For example, G‑Sync, FreeSync or universal.

Please note!

Are you using a 240 Hz screen? If so, you’ll also need a faster computer.

4. Keyboard

Speed is important when buying games, and the keyboard plays a key role in this!

Our advice is to use a keyboard with:

  • A very low input lag (under 5 ms)

  • A 1000 Hz polling rate

This ensures that your actions are handled instantly.

5. Video connection (display cables)

Make sure your computer, monitor and cables are all compatible.

  • Are you using HDMI? If so, ensure you have HDMI 2.1b support and suitable cables.

  • Are you using DisplayPort (DP)? If so, ensure you have DP 1.4 support and a suitable DP cable.

Important:

  • The graphics card must support both the chosen resolution and refresh rate.

6. Internet and Network

A stable connection is crucial. Our advice:

  • Use a wired internet connection (not Wi-Fi)

  • A stable connection of at least 100Mb/s is important

7. Firewall and security

Are you on a corporate network? If so, it’s a good idea to share this information with your IT department. Whilst a secure network is important, certain settings do need to be enabled to ensure the auction clocks work properly:

  • Ensure that STUN traffic is permitted through any firewalls. This is required for the audio in RFH Auction. We use LiveKit for this. Read more about configuring firewalls for LiveKit here.

  • Ensure that NTP/time synchronisation is permitted and configured on the workstations; this is necessary to log in to Floriday (manual updates carry a risk when ‘daylight saving time’ begins).

Tip: check firewall and network rules in advance.
