Smart Locks allows you to connect supported smart lock devices to your properties and automatically generate unique door codes for every booking. These codes can then be inserted into guest messages, automated texts, and digital guidebooks using the Door Code field.
Supported Lock Brands
RueBaRue supports many popular smart lock brands, including Schlage, August, Yale, and hundreds of others through our integration partner, Seam.

Requirements
To use Smart Locks, you must have:
An activeRueBaRue account
Either the Guest Guide or Text Messaging platform subscription
A valid credit card on file
Pricing
Smart Locks are billed at $5 per connected property/lock per month. Billing is based on the maximum number of locks connected during the month.
Billing Example
If you:
Connect 1 lock on the 1st of the month
Add 2 more locks in the middle of the month
Add another 2 locks near the end of the month
You will be billed for 5 connected locks for that month. Charges are automatically billed to the credit card on file.

RueBaRue Smart Locks uses a third-party provider Seam to power lock connectivity and code generation. Please review the latest RueBaRue Terms & Conditions, specifically Section 8, for important details regarding smart lock services, availability, and limitations.
How Smart Locks Work
Once configured:
RueBaRue automatically generates unique door codes for each reservation
The code is stored in the Door Code field
The code can be:
Inserted into automated guest messages
Included in scheduled text messages
Displayed inside the digital guidebook
New bookings imported into RueBaRue automatically receive new codes
Setup Instructions
1. Open the Smart Locks Page
Navigate to Smart Locks on the left sidebar.
3. Configure
a) Go to Settings β Smart Locks.
b) Enable the Smart Locks toggle to activate this feature for your account.
c) Enable Auto-generate door codes for new reservations to automatically create time-bound access codes for each reservation.
d) Click Sync Properties to Seam to push your property list to Seam so you can map locks to properties.
d) Click Sync Reservations to Seam to generate door codes for existing bookings already imported into RueBaRue. Moving forward, all newly imported bookings will automatically receive new door codes.
e) Set the standard Check-In and Check-Out times. These times determine when door codes activate and expire. Currently, Smart Locks uses a single global check-in and check-out time setting across all properties.
3. Connect Your Smart Lock Accounts
Connect one or more smart lock provider accounts. Depending on your provider, you may need to log into your smart lock platform and authorize access. This step will add all the locks to RueBaRue.
4. Assign Locks to Properties
After connecting your lock accounts, go to the Organize Property Listing tab to match each RueBaRue property to the appropriate lock device. Each property should only be linked to the correct physical lock for that home.
5. Using Door Codes in Messages and Guidebooks
Once codes are generated, you can:
Add the Door Code field to automated text messages
Include the code in pre-arrival messaging
Display the code in guest guidebooks
This ensures guests receive accurate and automatically updated access information.
6. Managing Additional Access Codes
You can also create and manage lock access for Owners, Maintenance teams, Housekeeping staff and other team members. To manage these codes:
Open the Smart Locks
Click the Manage tab
Create and manage additional access permissions as needed
