Tips for Creating an Event

To help ensure your event is approved by the Rumor team, we encourage you to review the following tips when creating and submitting your event.

  1. Event Name

    • Choose a clear and accurate event title.

    • Event names should be 75 characters or less for clarity and readability.

  2. Uploading event flyers

    1. Your event flyer must be in JPG or PNG format.

    2. The maximum file size is 5MB.

    3. Recommended dimensions: 800 x 1170 pixels.

    4. Ensure the image is clear, high-quality, and not blurry.

  3. Event Date and Time

    1. If you’re unsure about your event’s end date or time, click the eye icon next to “End” to hide this information from your guests.

  4. Event Location

    1. To help maintain privacy and security of your event, the exact location will remain hidden on the discover feed and event details page until a guest is confirmed.

    2. For additional privacy, hosts can press the eye icon to “Hide full address for confirmed guests” when creating your event, which keeps the exact address hidden, even for confirmed guests, until manually unchecked.

  5. Event Description

    1. Although optional, event descriptions are recommended. Provide a clear and detailed event description with all relevant information.

    2. Ensure the description is accurate to set the right expectations for attendees.

Best Practices

Ensure Accuracy

  • Double-check all event details before submitting your event for approval.

  • Ensure the event title, description, and promotional materials accurately reflect the event's purpose.

  • Be transparent about any fees or additional costs to prevent misunderstandings.

Respect Guest Privacy

  • Do not solicit or share users' personal contact information, (e.g. emails, phone numbers).

  • If your event involves recording, notify attendees in advance.

  • Clearly explain how any recordings will be used, stored, and shared.

Encourage Safety

  • Host events that prioritize the safety and well-being of attendees.

  • Events promoting harmful practices, illegal activities, or unsafe behavior will be rejected or removed immediately.

Following Community Guidelines

  • Ensure your event is suitable for the intended audience.

  • If your event has age restrictions, indicate this when creating your event.

  • Abide by all Rumor community guidelines when hosting events and engaging with attendees.

Cancelling Your Event

  • If unforeseen circumstances arise that could put guests at risk, cancel your event.

  • Do not proceed with an event where the safety of attendees is uncertain.

By following these guidelines, you can create a successful, secure, and compliant event on Rumor, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
