Credits: What They Are & How They Work

What Rumor credits are, what they're used for (announcements, database notifications), and how to add them.

Credits are Rumor's built-in currency for host outreach features. Most of Rumor is free to use — credits are only needed when you send messages at scale, such as SMS blasts to your guests or notifications to your contact database.

What Credits Are Used For

  • Event Announcements – Send blasts to your event's guests. Announcements sent by SMS use credits; the credit cost is based on the number of SMS recipients.

  • Database Notifications (Notify Database) – Notify your contacts when you post a new event, sending them a link to your event's sign-up (RSVP request) form.

  • Network Discovery – Invite guests from Rumor's network (credit costs vary).

Before you send, Rumor always shows you the exact number of credits the send will use, so there are no surprises. If your balance can't cover the send, you'll see a prompt to add credits before continuing.

Checking Your Balance & Adding Credits

On the web dashboard:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing.

  2. Your current credit balance is shown at the top, along with available credit packages.

  3. Select a package (or the amount you need) and complete the purchase. You can also review How Credits Work and your transaction history from this page.

On the mobile app:

  1. Open the Profile tab and tap the gear icon to open Settings.

  2. Tap Credits & Billing.

  3. Tap Add Credits, choose a package, and complete the purchase. Your balance and transaction history are shown on the same screen.

Good to Know

  • Credits are tied to your host account, not to a single event — one balance covers all of your events.

  • Email and in-app/push notifications don't use credits — credits apply to SMS sends and database notifications.

  • If an announcement's SMS option is disabled with a low-credit warning, add credits and the option will unlock again.
