​The rest timer in HeavySet is great time saving feature that allows you to workout more efficiently.

Auto-starting the timer

The rest timer in HeavySet behaves slightly differently based upon whether the exercise you are performing is part of the routine or not.

Exercises that are part of the routine

When you log a set for an exercise that is part of the routine, the rest timer will always start automatically if you have defined the rest duration for this exercise within the routine.

If the exercise does not have a rest duration defined the timer will not start. This is often useful if the exercise is part of a super set and you wish to perform both exercises back to back and then rest between sets.

Exercises that are not part of the routine

When you log a set for an exercise that is not part of the routine, the rest timer will be set to the last duration that was timed. This may have been after an exercise from the routine with a rest duration, one of the rest timer presets, or even the rest timer modifiers.

The timer will auto-start if you have enabled this at Settings > Timer > Auto-start.

Manually starting the timer

The rest timer can be started at any time by tapping the time display in the workout logger.

Stopping the timer

Cancel the timer at any time by tapping the timer display.

Accessing the Timer Panel

The Timer Panel provides a way to start the timer with preset times or modify the duration of the timer while it is counting down.

The Timer Panel can be accessed at any time in one of two ways:

  1. A swipe up gesture starting from the timer display in the workout logger.

  2. Scrolling all the way to the left while the bottom panel is open.

Timer Presets

HeavySet provides two preset durations. Tapping on a preset will immediately start the timer with that time. 

The timer presets can be defined at Settings > Timer > Timer Preset 1/2.

Modifying the timer duration while it is running

Sometimes we may want more or less rest before we start our next exercise. You can modify the timer duration at any point by accessing the Timer Panel and tapping one of the timer modifier buttons which start with +/-. 

The timer modifier amount can be defined at Settings > Timer > Timer Modifier.
