A right to work in the UK is required to use our app and services. There are a number of types of proof we accept.

When signing up with Ryde you will be asked to provide this proof and we may systematically check to ensure nothing has become invalid or out of date.

We currently accept:

UK passport or UK birth certificate

These documents can be submitted as a photo, scan, or copy. You will be asked to upload them during our application process and may be asked to re-submit them occasionally to ensure they remain up to date.

A home office issued share code

Simply follow this link and follow the on-screen instructions to generate a right to work share code. You can then type in your code during your application.

We may ask for a new code once you have worked with us for a while to ensure your records remain as up-to-date as possible.

Reasons document could be rejected

Sometimes, a document won't quite fit the requirements for working with us. When this happens it will be rejected and you will be sent a message with the reason and next step.

General

  • Is a travel document or BRP (not valid as a right to work): As of April a BRP is invalid for proving RTW in the UK. You may need to provide a right to work are code instead.

Share code

  • Visa does not allow self-employment: Check your current status with the Home Office and you can contact us when your condition changes. Uploading a share code again before changing your status is not a solution.

  • Requires Home Office approval: \we need to check your right to work directly with the Home Office. You should receive a reply from us in a week.

  • Share code not working: The code may be incorrect. Please double-check and try again.

Birth certificate

  • Document is not a UK birth certificate: We only accept UK birth certificates as proof.
