Royal Mail has several types of shifts that can be booked in the Ryde app, below you can learn about:

Parcel delivery

Parcel delivery shifts involve delivering parcels and packages. You are provided with a Royal Mail van and a set route for your deliveries.

All deliveries will be scanned and tracked from within the Ryde app.

Letter delivery

For letter deliveries, you only deliver letters and you may be required to deliver in a Royal Mail provided van or on foot. This is something that will be decided on the day of your job so for all letter delivery shifts please come prepared to complete a walking route for the day.

All deliveries will be scanned and tracked on a Royal Mail provided PDA device.

Mixed duty

These shifts will have you delivering a combination of parcels and letters. It might be you are given a short walking letter route, and then once completed, you return to the site and begin a parcel route.

Included in mixed duty are sorting duties. This is where you will help sort the parcels at the start of your shift, instead of them already being prepared when you arrive.

You will use different tools to track and scan the packages.

For letter deliveries you will use a Royal Mail provided PDA device. And for parcel deliveries, you will use the Ryde app.

The combination or structure of the shift will be decided on the day depending on the needs of the site.

For mixed duty shifts, please come prepared to complete walking routes and van driving routes.
