Nomad Insurance Essential: Am I covered when driving a motorbike, scooter or moped?

All terms and conditions apply as per our Description of Coverage, which you should consult as our official source of information.

Medical expenses from a motorbike, scooter or moped accident can be eligible for cover under Nomad Insurance Essential — but if you are riding or you are a passenger on a vehicle larger than 50cc, you must have the Adventure Sports add-on for any accident or injury to be eligible. Without it, you will not have coverage.

Minimum Requirements & Add-on Needed

  • If you are driving (or you are a passenger on) a scooter/motorbike larger than 50cc, you need the adventure sports add-on to be eligible for any accidents or injuries stemming from riding one. Learn more about this add-on.

  • To be eligible for medical expenses due to injury or accident:

    • You must be wearing proper safety gear, such as a seatbelt or helmet

    • You must be properly licensed for the class of vehicle you are driving. You may need more than a regular driver's license for motorbikes

  • Expenses for these situations are never eligible for coverage:

    • Driving while intoxicated

    • Racing

    • Personal liability (damage to property - like a vehicle)

    • Third-party medical (another person's health)
