When an employee submits a time off request, a time off approver must review it unless an admin enables automatic approval.
You can approve or decline requests only if an admin sets you as a time off approver.
📎NOTE: Sage HR lets admins choose whether time off approvals happen automatically.
There are a few different ways to do this in the Sage HR web portal.

What happens to the balance when you decline a request
If Sage HR has already approved the request, it restores the employee’s leave balance automatically.
If Sage HR never approved the request, the balance doesn’t change.
Cancelling a pending request never affects the leave balance.
