When you log in to Sage HR, you may be prompted to set up 2FA. This is either because you're an admin user with a Sage account where 2FA has been made mandatory, or you're an employee user whose Sage HR company's admin user has enabled 2FA.
When you log in, and prompted to set up 2FA, click Set up 2-factor authentication.
Confirm your First name and Last name, then click Continue.
You're presented with a QR code. This is for setting up 2FA using an authenticator app. However other options are also available.
You have three different ways to authenticate:
Authentication app (Recommended) - This app provides you a one-time six-digit code to use
Voice - You receive a voice call or voicemail that tells you your one-time six digit code
Text - You receive a text with your one-time six digit code
Select the option below for your preferred 2FA method to see steps on how to set it up.

Download an authenticator app of your choice from your App Store on iPhones or Google Play on Android phones.
Sage's 2FA is compatible with most mobile authenticator apps. A few of the best-known are:
Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.
📌TIP: If you can't scan the code, for example, because you're viewing it on your phone, click Cannot scan the QR code? You can then copy a key and paste it into your authenticator app instead.
Enter the 6-digit code you're provided, then click Continue.
You're presented with a recovery code. This is for the event when you don't have access to your mobile device to authorise your 2FA.
Click Copy code to clipboard, then paste it and store it somewhere safe.
⚠️CAUTION: Do not continue until you've done this.
Once you've stored your recovery code somewhere, select I have saved my recovery code, then click Continue.
You're now logged in to your company and all set up to log in again using 2FA.

Set up a recovery method
If you use a 'Customer' Sage account, we recommend you set up a recovery method.
This is an alternative email address or phone number you can use to access a new recovery code to log in. Alternatively, you can use the recovery method to reset your 2FA.
📌TIP: If the login screen shows a 'Changes to how you log in' banner, the user uses an Employee Sage account to log in to your Sage HR company.
If the login screen shows no banner, the user uses a Customer Sage account to log in to your Sage HR company.
