What is a purchase list and why would I use it?
The first part of interior design is the creative and visual “moodboarding” stage and the second part becomes more “technical”. The actual procurement and purchasing of products proposed on the moodboard happens after the moodboard design is created, presented and approved by the client. This is called the Purchase List.
Some designers choose to create moodboards using items from popular retail vendors and provide the final moodboard including a separate purchase list to their client to handle the details (also known as ‘shop the look yourself’). This option has become a standard e-design service offering for many of our customers.
Traditional interior designers still handle the FF&E (Furniture, Fixture and Equipment) purchasing. It simply means purchasing all the approved goods on behalf of the client, and this is only logistically possible if you reside in the same area as your client.
In both scenarios having a Purchase List attached to the moodboard is a must and with SampleBoard this time-intensive steps has been streamlined for you!
