In this lesson we'll go over how to select and generate your data box maps.

In the menu section on the left side of the screen, you’ll see numerous options…. click on the “report tab”. This will typically automatically default to a data box map image for groundwater. If you want to create an image in “SOIL” or in “OTHER MEDIA”, select the box map option in those sections. At the top of the menu, there is a field titled “Site Map” this list has available site maps that are available for reporting (see the “How To Add Sample Location Maps'' or images” video for more detail). Select the map or image you want to create a “data box map” image on.

Once selected, if you place your cursor on the image to the right you can see that you can drag and drop the boxes around the image and the boxes will stay where you leave them. Adjust the images so that they look organized and neat. Typically it looks better if you try and position the box so that lines do not cross over one another.

Moving down the menu column on the left, you will see a “Box scale” field and a “Map Scale” field. You can scale the data box size up and down here and the map scale size up and down here. You can adjust these settings and box map locations until you create a “good fit” for box size and map size. If you want to save the setting so that it’s saved for your next visit back to this box map image, hit the orange “save” button.

In the menu, the next field down is titled, “select dates”. In this box, you are going to select the sampling dates that you want to show in the box map to the right for this image. To the top right, you will see an orange toggle. If you move this toggle to the right, sample dates for which no sample was collected, will disappear from each data box. If you move the toggle to the left, dashes will appear, indicating that no sample was collected on that date. It’s a matter of preference, which way you like the toggle.

Just below this field, is the comparison criteria selection field. You can select the comparison criteria you would like to generate the sample result comparison against. Once you have these preferences the way you like them for this image, you can generate a PDF by hitting the generate image button at the bottom of the page. If you want to save the settings, hit the orange save button and they will be saved for your next visit.

Now moving to the “Select Substances” field again, select and save the substance that you would like shown on this particular box map. All the substances that have been tested for at this particular site will be listed here. If you want a one time generation of an image, simply select your substances and generate the image without hitting the save button.

Moving to the “select wells” field near the bottom, many times you do not want to show all the sample locations/wells on each image. Again, simply select the locations you want shown and generate the image using the generate image button at the bottom. If you want to save the settings, hit the orange save button.

Lastly, if you want to change the units which the data is reported in,simply change the uits and generate the report. It will default to the PPB setting automatically.

This is how you select and generate your data box maps.
